Last week I noticed that some records I used to be able to access on the FamilySearch Record Search website were no longer available. There was a note that stated they might be available through FamilySearch Beta. Today I discovered how to access the images on FamilySearch Beta. I am not sure why certain collections are still on FamilySearch Record Search and others are only on FamilySearch Beta, but the important thing is that they ARE available.
To access the record images available on Family Search Beta, you will need to register for the site. There is the option to register for an LDS account or a general public account.
It took me a little while to get used to the navigation on the site, but soon discovered that you can search by collection (click on the tab called “All Collections” under the title “Search Your Ancestors” on the home page) or you can search in all historical records (the Historical Records tab is the default tab under the title “Search Your Ancestors” on the home page) and get a list of hits from different collections that match your search parameters.
Some of you might remember that this site also includes the Family History Library Catalog, which was very helpful when the catalog on FamilySearch.org was not available a few weeks ago.
