ProGenealogists Researchers for “Who Do You Think You Are?”

Many of you have probably already seen commercials and advertisements regarding NBC’s new series “Who Do You Think You Are?” which premiers this Friday, March 5th at 8/7c. This exciting new series takes celebrities on a journey into their family history, revealing stories “they never imagined” about their ancestors.

We at ProGenealogists are pleased to announce our involvement as the research team that Ancestry.com and Wall 2 Wall (the show’s production company) turned to in researching the family trees of the seven featured celebrities. In fact, our President & CEO, Natalie Cottrill, will actually appear in the first episode with Sarah Jessica Parker as a guest genealogist! Needless to say, this has been a wonderful opportunity for all of us and we are so happy to have been a part of this new series. Each tree had amazing and compelling stories that were uncovered and we are confident that viewers will find a connection to their own family roots by watching these seven celebrities journey into their own family’s past.

As part of the excitement surrounding the premier of “Who Do You Think You Are?” We will be posting individual webpages for different episodes providing “behind-the-scene” insights that will better explain just how we found the clinching document or story that was presented in the show. Watch for more upcoming blog postings announcing these individual webpage launches!

Megan Smolenyak, who also did a great deal of research on the series, has created a companion guide to this new TV series. It  offers an excellent outline on how to get started on your own quest! Who Do You Think You Are?: The Essential Guide to Tracing Your Family History We’ll write more on this book as soon as we get our hands on a copy!

So be sure to tune in to NBC this Friday (and the next 6 Fridays after that) for this exciting new series that we believe will give Americans a greater appreciation – and interest – for who they are!
