Pumpkins at the Graveyard!

My daughter Carol  and I went to the Provo City Cemetery this weekend. The best thing about the visit was seeing the current trend in grave decoration—Halloween pumpkins.  Halloween is my favorite holiday and as a genealogist, I love graveyards, so naturally, I loved that many of the graves were decorated with pumpkins. Their happy orange color added a nice splash of festivity to the stones.

My daughter and I chose our favorites.  We thought the top honors belonged to Stubbs. The decorations on the Stubbs family tombstones were great. We appreciated the classic festivity of the display, which was in excellent taste.  We also enjoyed the more playful Llewellyn tombstone and the sweet Garmoe tombstone with the cute kitten, I mean great pumpkin. I would like to know if this trend is nationwide, or just a Utah thing. Visit your local cemetery, bring a few pumpkins, and decorate your favorite graves.
