Great Resources for London Research

A great new resource has recently become available for those of us with London ancestors. London is pretty much one of the most difficult places to research in England. This is particularly true for those whose only access to London records is the Internet. Well, at long last, there now exists a substantial database for the church records of the capital city. Drawn from more than 10,000 parish register books covering the greater London area, there are now almost 20 million names readily available to researchers.

Ancestry.com has released the following three databases to their subscribers:

London, England, Births and Baptisms 1813-1906 (16.7 million names)

London, England, Deaths and Burials 1813-1980 (1.8 million names)

London, England, Marriages and Banns 1754-1921 (11 million names)

Happy hunting!
