Project Judaica / Jewish Documentary Sources in Eastern European archives
An excellent book was recently published regarding source documents in Kiev archives relating to Jewish history and culture, as part of the Project Judaica series on records of Jewish people in the old Russian Empire. The book describes many documents relevant for genealogy. The book, by Efim Melamed and Mark Kopovetsky, is written in Russian, with an English foreword and table of contents. It is actually the fourth book in the Project Judaica series, with previous books having been published about records of Jewish history and culture in Moscow archives, Belarus archives, and the Russian State Military Archives (although those books were not as extensive as the Kiev book). Mr. Melamed is currently directing the production of additional books to be published about records of Jews in other areas of present-day Ukraine.
